Mitchell's Farm

The Mitchell's are one of the many great families in our ward. They have this barn on their property that was built in the 1800's. They restored it but it took them about 6 years to do so. It looks great now. They wanted it is so they could have a fun gathering place and so others could use it for different activities. The ward uses it every year for Christmas breakfast. Ignore the way my kids are dressed. They thought they were just going for a Sunday drive (a tradition of ours on Sunday) and didn't plan on getting out of the car.

They have several antiques on the walls from the era. This was an oxen yoke that belonged to John Taylor. John Taylor was the third president of our church and was also in the room when Joseph Smith was martyred. John Taylor was also shot but the bullet hit the watch which was in his coat pocket and saved him.

This is us in front of the oxen yoke that belonged to John Taylor. On a side note, Stephen Mitchell, the owner of the barn spent yesterday over at President Monson's house. President Monson bought some pigeons from the Mitchell's so they were delivering them to him.
This is Stephen Mitchell with the kids inside the barn.
Olivia is sitting on a very old saddle. They have it set up so that it rocks back and forth. The kids have fun on it.

He has several old buildings on his property.
Here's an old wagon.
This is their house in proximity to ours - just across the field from us.

What a neat old barn - I love stuff like that! I guess probably most people do. How wonderful that they share it with the ward.
It is also amazing that they have such a neat piece of history hanging in there. Wonder how they got it?
I can see parties and pictures happening it a cool place like that!

What an incredible place! In answer to your you tube question, it looks like you haven't uploaded the mormon chanels panel, but another you tube panel. Check in to the mormon chanels panel and try again. Good luck
