Birthday lunch with Tanya
Tanya called me yesterday and wanted to take me out to lunch for my birthday. We went to Iggy's because I have never been there before. Tanya likes it because she feels like she is back home in a pub(just kidding) , but it does have that kind of feel - and she does kind of like it. we had a fun time. She also gave me a very cute Willow tree figurine. Tanya is a good friend and is like a sister to me. thanks for the fun afternoon Tanya.
Jeff showed up and visited with us. He took a picture of us which we both agreed made us look huge(it was probably what we really look like) but we didn't like it. Instead we took another picture hiding behind the firepit. Much better.
I got a new job
I got a new job. Ok, it's not really a job but a service. I volunteer at the Bishop's Storehouse every Thursday. When I first walked in this week a sister there told me the spirit is very strong here and I will have many spiritual experiences. My first thought was I can't have too many of those because I get too emotional and cry too easily. I really want to be able to serve though so I am willing to deal with it. It is great. We come in at 9:00 and have devotional at 9:30. The devotional was a really neat experience. Prayers and scriptures are shared talking about how we are all in need and how we need to help each other(tears start falling). I am a host so after the devotional I wait for families to come in that I may help with their food order. All walks of life came in my first day. It is hard to see so many struggling right now with the economy how it is. It was especially hard for me to see men come in to pick up orders for their families. What a great help the welfare system is for all of us in times of need though. I know I am going to grow a lot from this experience.

Sunday dinner with friends
We love getting together with friends for Sunday dinner. We had dinner last Sunday at our friends' the Princes. They are a fun family. Bro. Prince was at church interviewing Jeffrey for a temple recommend and found out we were having curry. He called his wife and invited us over to their house for dinner. We put our dinners together and had a yummy feast. They have 9 children but only 7 home. It was a big, crazy group. We learned a new game again. It is called Mafia. It's fun to play. Ruth, if you want this one I am going to have to explain it over the phone or in person.

Nordstrom
I love the service at Nordstrom. It is the main reason I buy anything there. I buy all my make-up there because I can return it without question or even a receipt if I get home and don't like it. This cracked me up though. I received a thank you card in the mail from the gal who helped me with my purse purchase. Very sweet girl but this almost makes me feel uncomfortable/ kind of shallow and worldly. I do appreciate the kind gesture though and excellent customer service.

I don't care day
Emma and Olivia stayed home from school on Friday. They had both been a little sick and I wanted to get their haircut which we never have time for once everyone is home. My grandma used to have "I don't care days" with me and my siblings when we were young. It was a day we stayed home with her and just did fun things. so I thought I would have one with my little girls. We went to Blockbuster and picked out a movie and then over to McDonald's for lunch and to play. I haven't gone to McDonald's to play with my kids in a long time. It brought back memories of when my other kids were younger and we'd go with friends. Unfortunately for Emma and Olivia, we don't eat fast food anymore so McDonald's play area hasn't happened much for them. Jeff had a lunch cancel so he came home and joined us. It was a fun day with Emma and Olivia.
